This happens on my Mepis64/AW8D/D930 rig, once it's done, that's all she wrote. I think it may be a bad hard drive. I got the drive from a machine that wouldn't format with a Windoze disk, but Mepis installed on it.

Linux 64 flashplayer

New linux 64 bit flashplayer. Before, you had to use 32 bit browser to have flashplayer. It was a pita for me. Hopefully this will be better. Check out this link.

Mepis 8 beta.

I have 2 new p43 mobos. An MSI & a Biostar. I couldn't get my lan working on either with mepis 7 or fedora. I tried the latest mepis 8 beta. They both got online right away. I had to do nothing. Just clicked on firefox & I was on line. If I can get my ipod, skype & network printer working, I could do almost anything with linux that I do with Windows.

Unstable Machine; pausing for 24 hours

I've had it happen on 3~4 rigs in the last couple days ...... hard to say what causes it.
I've thought it was my card a few times but there aren't any video problems like pixelation or coloured lines ..... and it's picked up again a few hours later ....... I think it's got to be the client / core. i've read of a number of problems they have had and been updating the cores ... worst part is, the older cores work, not the newer ones.

I already paid the $25 dollars(at the time I sent in the m/b because I had misplaced the bill of sale. since located) and they cashed the cheque, that excerpt was their reply to me after cashing the cheque, they wanted another $100.00(or they wouldn't repair, return the ix38) claiming the nf7 that was rma'd in 2004 and the as8 rma'd in 2005 were out of warranty (at those times, neither was out of warranty) and that there was no reciept(which is an outright lie, because I still have the bill of sale for all three m/b's).
To top that off, it's none of their business, because it was all done before they bought out abit.

It has built-in temperature monitoring so you get a nice temp reading in the system tray which is nice.

Everyone needs to keep an eye on your cards temps.
The new wu 5748 is running the temps up a few deg-C
And longer run times, with fewer ppd.
I am down 2k ppd on my 8800gt cards

Sorry for the confusion regarding P5748 and core_13. I've tried to answer them in the individual threads, but it makes sense to answer it in one place. I'll give updates here:

1) core_13 is a development core, but that does not mean that it's beta testing only. Right now, core_13 and core_11 are both based on the v1.19 code.

2) Right now, P5748 is a production project. It went through QA with core_13 and it was kept as core_13 (non-beta) since core_13 right now is the same as core_11. I have reminded the scientists involved that this can be confusing for donors and in the future we should push out production projects only with core_11 and it has been now switched to core_11 (this won't change the science, but hopefully will make this more clear for donors what we're doing).

3) P5478 PPD is low primarily since it is a larger protein, which the NVIDIA code does less well compared to smaller proteins. A small effect has to do with some code differences between core 1.19 and some previous cores, but that is a smaller effect for most than the protein size. The future of GPU WUs will be proteins of this size or larger.

4) Core version 1.19 (same for both core_13 and core_11) was extensively tested and vetted by donors, including the specific question "should we go forward with this." The results were overwhelmingly positive and so we went forward. It looks like some people are now reporting stability issues. We will look into this further on Monday (it's Sunday in California), but for now v1.19 is much more stable than its predecessors for the bulk of donors (based on reports from donors in recent threads).

Sorry for the shot gun summaries, but I wanted to put everything in one place in a brief fashion to get the point across. I will update this list with edits in case I forgot something important here.

There are like 4 drivers you need for an nVidia card (well, the "driver" is kind of in 4 parts), Just go to the nVidia site and look up what driver you need and then find the correct one in add/remove software. Most likely it's the openGL part that is wrong or not there, or not enabled. The 4 parts are the kernel module (Kmod), The X compatibility layer, the driver itself and the KDE/Gnome control panel software. SO I'd just chack all that. It's kind of hard to tell you "what" to get, because you're not running Fedora (I am 110% unfamiliar with mepis)

My biggest hope is that we can get back to the way our government is supposed to be. We've just finished up 8 long years of throwing out the practice of "separation of church and state". W's insistence that GOD wanted us in this war made me lose what little faith I had in him. We have church-state separation for real reasons (look at the middle ages and even colonial British rule or the inquisition and witch trials) The media doesn't help AT ALL with pointing out race, creed, color and religion as well as other improper topics in matters of government. And that's probably why it is allowed to occur, but to make a statement like that appears to me as the ultimate discrimination. In a country where people worship whatever or whoever they want as a basic freedom, my question is: "which GOD?", and simply put, I know it wasn't my GOD, because I don't believe that "My GOD" would want violence. I hope my ramblings can deciphered in to some kid of intelligible point here.

I'm just gonna hope it all gets better and people can stop being petty. Personally I am pro choice (that doesn't mean i think everyone should have abortions etc..) But I DO feel that it's not my place to tell ANYONE what they can or cannot do. Personally, I don't think I could ever tell my wife to have an abortion or to not have one weather the kid was mine, a rapist's, from a bout of disloyalty, or what have you. However, I DO think that I can express my position and opinion and support her in what ever she decides.

What effect is there from the abortion of a woman's pregnancy on the lives of people in the rest of the world? None. The rest of the country will still live their lives. And the only person who will be impacted is the mother. If she was raped, I don't blame her. Wont survive, well, if she chose to have it anyway what of her other possible children? Should they live the rest of their lives without mommy? There are so many uncontrollable circumstances that it is completely unfair to tell a woman what she can and can't do. She's the one who has to live the rest of her life with that decision, let her make it. Another point on abortion. Do we want to go back to the 50's and have "Dr. Coathanger" do it? NOT

I feel the same about almost every other issue. Except hard drugs. I think legalizing pot is the best thing for us. We don't need to keep filling the jails with guys that sell "Natural Herbs". But the hard drugs, well, that's a serious issue. People rob people for crack, meth, coke, heroine, etc.. People can die from withdrawal symptoms trying to kick the addiction. There's a real problem there and it has been there since forever.

For a country with the technology to watch a guard in Iraq pee on a wall, I can't for the life of me understand how ANYONE can smuggle this crap in. Or for that matter, How our borders can be so unsecured, but they do and they are.

Maybe my position on this stuff comes from being on both sides of that fence at one time or another.
I have 4 kids and still for the life of me I can't understand why ANYONE would willingly bring a child into this world. I love my kids but I always feel like I am punishing them by subjecting them to the BS of our existence.

Maybe in 2012 My candidate will win (see below) and the world will be happy once again.

What's new in this release:

* The client list view has been made much more configurable and additional columns can be added with a right click on the column title.

* You can now completely hide the WU Info panel on the right hand side of the main FahMon window.

* Clients can now be managed from the main menu instead of a right click menu in the clients list.

* Clients can now be manually disabled if you don't want FahMon to monitor them.

* Paused clients can now be detected and shouldn't register as *hung*.

* A number of debilitating bugs that affected GPU monitoring have been fixed.

* FahMon on Windows now follows MS guidelines for storage of settings. This means no more problems with UAC on Vista when downloading project updates.

Seems to fix the eue problem.
May lose a few ppd with it. Better than eues I guess.

probably for the same reason that a mandriva package rarely works on other rpm based distros

the packages are designed for a specific prebuilt environment, and more than likely, has ubuntu specific add ons in the compiled binaries
